Exfoliate Once a Week. Care for Your Barrier Every Day

On this week's episode of Facially Conscious, we talked about why so many people are showing up with red, flaky, stinging skin: they're doing too much. Too many products, too many acids, too many steps.

But the answer isn't to stop exfoliating. It's to find the balance. Dead skin builds up as we age, and it needs a little help coming off. Your barrier, the "mortar" between your skin cells, needs daily support so it stays strong.

Here's what that balance looks like in my own routine. Once a week in the shower, I use Clear Away Cleanser. I chose this formulation because the glycolic, lactic, and salicylic acids loosen dead skin while soft jojoba beads lift it away, so you get chemical and physical exfoliation in one quick step. And when the barrier needs support, I reach for Night Night Cream, the lipid-rich barrier cream in my line, with ceramides that mirror the skin's own "cement."

If your skin is feeling tight or reactive right now, The Calm Skin Routine is where I'd start.
