Why 18 antioxidants

Researchers sort the molecules that damage skin into three families:

The oxygen family comes from sunlight, pollution, smoke and stress. It is the largest group, and it wears down the moisture barrier and collagen and keeps inflammation going.
The carbonyl family comes from sugar, alcohol and browned foods. It stiffens collagen like the caramelized top of a crème brûlée, which shows up as sagging, deeper lines and dark spots.
