Sunflower oil, like other plant oils, is a superb emollient for smooth and hydrated skin. It shields and restores the skin's surface, as noted by Leslie Bauman in Cosmetic Dermatology. A single application accelerates skin barrier recovery within an hour, maintaining effects for 5 hours. Rich in fatty acids, particularly linoleic (50-74%) and oleic (14-35%), sunflower oil's unrefined variant (best for skin) is especially beneficial for acne-prone skin due to its high linoleic acid content. With a comedogenic index of 0, it suits all skin types.
